Best Danged Barbershop Quartet in El Dorado County!
PayDirt has been together for 3 years now singing our hearts out and hopefully sounding pretty good while we're at it.
The guys (left to right): Kent Miller - Tenor, sometimes Lead or Baritone Scott Olson - Lead, sometimes Tenor or Baritone Bob Stucky - Baritone, sometimes Lead Bernard Carlson - Bass (Yes, we switch around our parts on some songs just for the fun of it!)
How it all started
We got together as a result of Imagination Theater's production of "Music Man". Of course, one has to have a barbershop quartet to put on that show. Through some friends who were involved, Bob Stucky , our Baritone was asked to find a quartet for the show. At the time, Kent and Bernie were singing with another quartet, Sunny Side Up, and they accepted the challenge. Of course, if one of the 4 gets sick or can't perform, the theater would have had a problem. So we created another quartet, just for the show to be a back up. We ended up splitting the performances. It was certainly an experience all of us really enjoyed.
After the Imagination Theater Production, we found ourselves at an afterglow party for the Gold Rush Chorus show that fall. Someone wanted to hear Lida Rose. The 4 of us sang it. We were surprised at the blend we achieved and resolved to meet and see what might happen.
